C.P.J. Lips schrijft hierover in wandelingen door Oud- Dordrecht op blz. 24, o.a.: De inham komt reeds voor op de kaart van Jacob van Deventer in 1545. Het ligt op de plaats waar in de Middeleeuwen het zgn. Coghuys stond. Onder dit Coghuys werd de stadscogge ( oorlogschip) bewaard. In de 19e eeuw meerden in deze inham stoomschepen af die zorgden voor het vervoer/ reis over water. ( zoiets als de waterbus). Men reisde vroeger per schip. Tussen het Gat van de Marktschuit en de Boombrug lag de zgn. Diefsteiger. Dordrecht vormde het knooppunt van interlokaal en internationaal verkeer te water. Dit laatste impliceerde dat er meerdere aanlegplaatsen waren o.a. ook bij de Vuilpoort ( Bomkade), Riedijks Poort, bij de Damiatenbrug,enz. Het Coghuys heb ik overigens nog niet ontdekt op beeldbank.
